Local pet owners are being urged to take further precautions to ensure their animals keep cool, with a heatwave warning issued for the Gold Coast.
The Animal Welfare League Queensland has warned that pets can rapidly suffer from heat stroke and even die on very sweltering days.
A low-intensity heatwave is expected across the Gold Coast for the next few days, according to BOM.
