Gold Coast M1 closed following massive multi-vehicle crash

The M1 southbound has been forced to close all lanes due to a massive crash involving up to ten cars.

It happened near the Pimpama offramp for Exit 49 at around 4.45pm with all three southbound lanes currently closed.

Traffic is at a standstill back to Stapylton.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area or expect lengthy delays.

QAS paramedics are on scene, as well as Queensland Police.
