FCAI chief executive Tony Weber said supply constraints were a curb on EV sales, with full-battery EVs now making up 8 per cent of new vehicle sales in April.
If other forms of electrification were included, such as hybrid vehicles, the percentage is 15.4 per cent in April, compared with 9.5 per cent a year earlier.
“We know that this number would have been larger had the industry not faced global supply challenges,” Mr Weber said.
