Drivers are being charged up to £302 more for their car insurance compared to a year ago, figures have revealed. As consumers struggle with rising household bills, the cost of keeping a car on the road has shot up by almost 20%.
The steep rise in insurance fees over the past 12 months means that a policy that cost £500 last year would now cost £600. Meanwhile young drivers have seen premiums increase the most by 26%, the Sun reports.
