What is temporary car insurance?

Almost every state in the union requires automobile insurance for drivers to legally operate a vehicle on public roads. Most car insurance policies typically cover you for a year. Temporary insurance (sometimes called short-term insurance), as the name implies, provides coverage for much shorter periods and often only last a week to a month. Most vehicle owners will never need short-term or temporary insurance, but there are a few instances where it could be considered.
